Untitled
All praises be unto God for his everlasting mercy. Having said that, this is the first entry for this year. I know it's been a while but life can sometimes become a bit challenging and busy. Aside from that, there has been a lot happening in the black community, and it's not good news as far as progress goes. We continue to feed the stereotypes and stigmas about African American people. Now that we have a black president, things seem to have gotten worse and I don't understand why. The "N" word is being used frequently, especially amongst each other. The one thing that makes it more challenging is when others use the word. It doesn't matter how the word is used because it still hurts any and everyone somehow. Many of us claim that the "N" word is just that, a word, yet still get angry when someone other than black use the word. Even if it's just for a little while, we need to eliminate the use of the "N" word amongst ourselves before we try to condemn others for using the word. We have to rise and succeed together as a people before we put expectations on things that we haven't even earned yet. We could at least try it for a month and see how different life is without the stereotype of the "N" word and who it applies to.
